Barton Drew Perkins is a native of Birmingham, AL where he currently resides with his dogs. He attended Sewanee: The University of the South where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta, and graduated in 2019.

After college, Barton would go on to receive an MFA in Creative Writing from American University.

Along with his work as a writer, Perkins is an avid ceramicist.
